I have been making art for as long as I can remember. Over the years my styles have changed; I was a painter, photographer, fine artist, commercial photographer, photo illustrator, assemblage artist and back again. Through it all, the one constant is the use of the human figure. Usually nude, I strive to evoke visceral reactions by mixing almost primeval human symbolism with contemporary concerns. I don’t like clothing or labels and prefer androgynous, sculptural models, rendered in a burnished Victorian postcard sepia tone.

My photographs have been exhibited both nationally and internationally and are included in the permanent collections of the National Museum of American Art ( Smithsonian ) and Paris Audiovisual. ( Ville de Paris ) Exhibitions and publications include  “ Splendors et Miseres du Corps” at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris and “ The Society of Illustrators 42nd Annual Show”. My imagery has also appeared in High Fashion Tokyo, Zoom, American Photographer, French Photo, and numerous other periodicals . Along with my personal work, I have co-created numerous published graphic novels and covers with Dc Comics/ Vertigo as well.

The name for this website came from M.Richard Kirstel one of my first professors. He was convinced that every photograph needed something special, unexpected and out of place. I took him literally and put a fish in it.
